Boxed Values

The read and print syntax for a box is #&object where object is the contents of the box. However, only mutable boxes will be recovered. An immutable or variable box will lose identity when printed.

procedure: (make-box [INITIAL-VALUE [#:immutable? #f]])

Returns a box with the optional INITIAL-VALUE. The #:immutable? parameter does what it says.

macro: (make-box-variable VARIABLE [#:immutable? #f])

Returns a boxed reference to the variable VARIABLE, which must be in lexical-scope.

macro: (make-box-location TYPE [INITIAL-VALUE [#:immutable? #f]])

Returns a boxed reference to a location variable of TYPE, with optional INITIAL-VALUE and #:immutable? parameters as make-box.

Note this macro can only be used in compiled source!
